‘Culture of Echos’ is a live sound performance that explores the re-representations of ideas that have been passed on through living experience and tradition. The performance by North Wales sound trio Accretion Entropy will take place, non-stop, over many hours during which compositions will be improvised. Based inside St Johns Church, it will be accompanied by a number of projection mapping based installations by local artists, hosted by the Blinc Digital Arts. Accretion entropy will be responding to the narratives created in the visual installations while using the natural acoustics of the building to create a multi-channel audio visual experience that aims to bathe the viewer in a multi-sensory experience.
Accretion Entropy Bio
Accretion Entropy; an experimental electro-acoustic trio consisting of Charles Gershom, Dr Ed Wright and Rob Spaull. Based in North Wales, the group utilise performance techniques based heavily on intuitive improvisation. A gradual accumulation of sounds is used to coalesce and transform a blank canvas from a state of maximum entropy, into structures of ordered textures and rhythms. An eclectic mix of electric violin, modular synths, custom hardware, and digital workstations are used in a number of unorthodox ways to create an ensemble that reflects the mixed backgrounds of the performers. Sparse cinematic soundscapes to chaotic high energy percussive pieces are all represented.
