Message in Bottle: Tim Pugh

Tim is a well-established environmental artist and creates art with materials found in a variety of outdoor habitats including beaches, woodlands and riversides. He utilises the beautiful colours and textures found in the natural world.

For LLAWN02 Timwill work with local schools to collate discarded, washed up bottles from the North Wales coastline and clad the walls of one of the iconic Promenade shelters with a myriad of coloured bottles. The transformed space then becomes a temporary depository where the public can write and store notes and messages inside the bottles. This alludes to a time during the Second World War when the contents of Somerset House were brought to Llandudno and stored at The Grand Hotel: the whole of the UK’s wills and birth certificates were housed beneath The Great Orme. The Shelter’s bottled walls will then be dismantled to form a Recycled Raft and sent out to the sea along with its many contained memories and messages.
